Our School

Children at Bread and Roses Alternative Child Care are nurtured in a safe and supportive environment where they develop a strong sense of self and community. Our school focuses on addressing their emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development.

Ensuring an inclusive approach to learning by fostering collaboration and creating a network that supports children's growth both inside and outside the classroom.

Safe & Inclusive for All

This is a  space where children and caregivers can be seen, be heard, be celebrated, and be true to themselves as they learn and grow.

Play Based Learning

Inspired by Reggio Emilia, our curriculum centers explorative play.  Our newly renovated outdoor learning space, allows for messy and rough play in the natural world around us.

Mixed Aged Class

Children two and a half to five years old and fully potty trained, coexist in a small nurturing class.

Community Partnerships

We have expanded our outreach into the community.

Partnerships include: KCReady 4s, Kalamazoo Child Care Coalition (KCCC), Edision Early Childhood Education (ECE) Career Pathway, Great Start to Quality Participant

Dedicated Teaching Team

We honor our teachers as essential partners in education. Our teaching team includes our Executive Director, Assistant Director, two CDA certified teachers, and one assistant teacher.

Bread and Roses relies on the generosity of our community to keep our doors open and provide Kalamazoo’s children a safe, affirming space to learn and grow
